NETWORK OF SCHOOL PLANNERS, IRELAND

The creation of a Teacher Professional Network (T.P.N.) in the area of school planning is a new initiative from the Teacher Education Section of the Department of Education and Science.

Following a meeting attended by stakeholders in the teaching profession from across the country in the Gresham Hotel, Dublin, in 2005, an interim Executive was established.

Our administrative base is Kildare Education Centre, whom we look forward to working with as we develop.

The rationale for the T.P.N. and its raison d’etre (not listed in order of priorty)

To nurture teacher learning and professional development in the area of school development planning
To provide a resource or contact for all teachers interested in SDP
To share good practice e.g. a peer support network
To be of practical use to all teachers involved in SDP.
To develop local relationships which foster effective partnership
To identify upskilling needs and issues arising
To engage with and disseminate best practice in school planning both nationally and internationally

We welcome your advice and suggestions to ensure that a valuable contribution is made to this ongoing process. The National Executive is actively planning to hold a National Conference in the coming year. We acknowledge the support and guidance of the School Development Planning Initiative, and the Teacher Education Section of the Department of Education and Science, who have been invaluable in their support.

Our National Conference will take place in the Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge, Co. Kildare

on Saturday, March 26th.
